I never really feel compelled to do community service...

Someone help me.

I don’t think many normal people do at first, but if it’s something you’ve really thought through you may end up really enjoying it, as I did.

Hhaha, everyone is like that at first. Go to an event with a couple thousand people, such as a major walk or something. Or a really emotional event, such as a Relay for Life event. That will change your opinion, as it did mine :)

Well, you can’t force yourself to want to do community service, but I think most people find it not that bad and actually enjoyable. What kind of community service do you have in mind? I personally like volunteering at the local public library (helping with arts and crafts, shelving/organizing books, occasionally interacting with children). I prefer stuff like that over helping in marathons where there is a frightening amount of people. Whatever the case, helping people really does give off a good feeling and is generally a very productive use of time. :]

im doing relay for life later this month.

If you don’t like the present community service programs, you can create your own. My friend and I opened a summer violin camp that went everyday for 3 weeks. It was very fun teaching small kids! We also made a bunch of jewelry (her mom’s a jewelry designer or whatever it’s called) and sold them by the community library and donated it to the library. This can all be considered community service!

^ Same thing. Instead of working at a soup kitchen during the summer, I started a Chess Mentoring Program at local library. I made a few librarian friends who helped me get a job at the library during the school year!

lol. I never really feel compelled to do life.

i did relay for life yesterday/today. it was amazing, and really emotional. i did not expect to be affected as much as i was by it. i think what really got me was a four year old girl who was walking around wearing a “survivor” pin, and one of the luminarias that said “i love you mom. rest in peace” in little kid handwriting. it really made me want to become more involved.

Yeah, Relay for Life was really emotional, and it made me want to get out there and volunteer more!
