<p>So is there a need/necessity/point/reason for taking a tablet (such as the Ipad) to college. Now I am going to be a freshman at an engineering college and I was wondering whether I would require a tablet.</p>
<p>I just wanted to mention that I am an international student and I have heard about Ipads and stuff being used in schools/colleges in the US so I was wondering is there any need or particular benefits of having one.</p>
<p>You would get by easier with a laptop, but using an iPad would also be an option. Basically you need some type of portable computer.</p>

<p>An iPad might be useful, it might not. Anyone who ends up buying it buys it because they want it, not because it is required for school.</p>
<p>I only know of one school which requires them, and hey rent them out to freshmen because they require them. As you’re an international, I can’t imagine you would want to go to that college anyway…</p>
<p>I don’t believe so. I can with all honesty say that in my two years at college so far, I have only come across 1 person with a tablet. I know this because I realized it was odd that it was the first time I saw a person with one. Most stick to laptops, if anything. Even those usually aren’t a requirement due to multiple computer labs on campuses.</p>
