So what have you quit that was potentially helpful for your college application and why?

I quite lacrosse because I was terrible, no horrendous, no I was even worse than that. But the 2nd (and more prominent) reason was the girls were really nasty to each other, and especially mean to me, so I just told my dad today…he told me there goes my well-roundedness. I do love lacrosse, but hs girls are pretty mean, especially when you’re on the receiving end of all of their negativity.

I played for 2 years (9th and 10th)

What else have you quit?

I quite softball because I couldn’t catch if my life depended on it
I quit SADD club because I couldn’t find the “wrestling room” where the meetings were
I quit cussing because I just felt like it (i’ve been sober for 5 years now…lol :p)
I quit eating breakfast because I’m never hungry at 6 in the morning

I quit math team because I just couldn’t measure up to the captain. Being good meant taking a lot of time out of my schedule, and I had more important things going on.

I quit softball because it conflicted with the musical.

I quit getting fat because I look hotter skinny.

I quit wearing rimmed glasses and now wear plastic ones, but I love my plastic ones because they match with my hair.

I quit being so ****ing uptight about everything.

I quit taking Latin because let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to learn Italian instead of reading the Aeneid in Latin for a year?

I quit AP Physics because I had never taken regular physics, and the class was taught in such a way where the general physics background was assumed to be learned. And I did not do so well in that class.

I quit going out with this one guy from Yale because he was trouble.

I quit my AP USH class because the teacher was a moron… had I not quit that extra .5 in weighted GPA would have boosted me to #1… too bad.

I quit fieldhockey because it conflicted with EVERYTHING else and the coach just didn’t understand that the team was NOT the most important thing in my life.

I quit watching cable(ie cancelled the service) because I felt like I was watching too much TV… the best thing I ever did.

I quit the environmental club because, well, we did nothing.

I quit trying to compete with others and am focused on myself and my own agenda.

I think that most of my decisions have been for the better.

I quitted science club because I got sick of asking for when the next meeting was and I’d never get an answer.

I quit book club senior year because it used to be very small then grew to like over 50 students so there would be those 5 outspoken people talk about what they think and it wasn’t really a group discussion anymore.

I quit band because I wasn’t good enough to get into the top one at my school and because you get kinda tired of playing formulaic cal like “woodbine bridge” or “waterlily pond.” plus the mandatory pep band was alright but you had to mix with the best musicians and they were complete jerks.

I quit broadcasting because my good ideas were being ignored that those that weren’t couldn’t be completed because there weren’t any willing tech people.

I never took 4th year french because I got tired of it.

I stopped running cross-country, which I had participated in from 7th-9th grades w/ awards, because I was very depressed and I didn’t want to participate in any ECs.

I quit Interact Club (9th grade) because I didn’t really like it.

I quit track because I felt like I was never going to make any progress and I didn’t want to be humiliated any further.

I quit tae kwon do because it was getting very expensive and the place was seeming to be even more of a scam.

I quit band in 6th grade and joined choir in junior high. I’ve tried to do choir in high school but my schedule has never permitted it.

I quit a community service organization temporarily because of health reasons.

I quit hangin with beautiful girls/ cool guys freshman year to take hard classes with geeks. Now I talk about college instead of chillin at parties and dating hot girls :(

This is a big decision…I’m gonna quit CC right now. This is my last post.
It has been a huge waste of time, but I did get some helpful information from it.
I’m going to go live my life now instead of being locked in to the computer screen.
I hope that the ocean god sends us perfect waves in the near future, and I hope the adcom of Stanford, Harvard, Dartmouth, Amherst, UCLA, UCB, and UCSD send me acceptance letters.
Aloha brahs!

ALthough I went nationals in swimming (in korea) in 5th grade, I quit like 7th grade b/c I went academics>swimming. I sort of regret it though.
I quit piano…after a horrendous recital (i forgot a part, and the embarrasement was overwhelming) --not the greatest excuse, but still.
I quit Spanish after 2 years to take an overwhelming amount of APs. I didn’t like foreign languages anyway…

science…i only took 2 years of it , BIO and CHEM the minimum requirements…

i can’t stand math—so physics would have been an absolute nightmare. i want to actually ENJOY my senior year and i definitely don’t want to ever be a scientist…so i don’t care if it looks bad LoL

This thread hits really close to home for me because I just quit something I’ve done for 9.5 years on Friday.

I quit taekwondo. It was a lot of fun and I got to over all over the country to compete and even got to go train at the Olympic Training Center.

It was fun, but I think it was the best choice I ever made. I believe I quit for good reasons; to overcome my anorexia (my instructor kept telling me I had to get skinnier), I had already accomplished all of my goals, and to pursue my other interests.

Now, I can only hope that I made the right choice, not for college applications but for the rest of my life. I hope this is something I won’t regret 40 years from now.
