I really need advice on what to study..

Okay so my two passions: polisci and Education (teaching).
I received preferred admissions into the education department (to start my Junior year) which is great news. I always thought I wanted to teach Elementary school because I love the little kids. BUT studying Elementary School Teaching degree does not allow me to continue studying my polisci classes after sophmore year, to be honest I might not even have time my fresh/soph year (at LSA) to study polisci to the extent that I want to. If I decide to become a secondary teacher, I could study polisci. The only reason I would ever study secondary education (grades 6-12) would be to teach polisci.
Are there even enough jobs available for high school government teachers?

I would look into getting an A.B. in poli sci with a teaching certificate. This would give you flexibility to go into teaching or to use the A.B. for something else. The school of ed has open houses where you can find out more about this.

This would result in a secondary school teaching certificate. I don’t know how difficult it would be to transition back to teaching little kids and what you would need to do to get this.
