I really regret this, how much do you think it takes for me to let go?

1) It seems that everyone here has taken a rigorous science and math course called Physics. I was offered the course in my Junior year and switched to Earth Sci because I thought it would’ve been easier for me to handle. Yet, one of my abilities is that I’m known for being good at math. I was given Physics Honors and I took Earth Sci instead to get an A for both semesters in my Junior year. This really bothers me because if I had taken Physics H instead, I imagine that my grade in the class would’ve been better than the D I got in regulars chemistry. Does anyone know by how much chances will it hurt me when colleges look at my HS transcript again as a transfer to an elite school?

2) Do most people who excel in Chemistry and Physics usually the ones who are admitted to top colleges? If you suck at one of them, it hurts right?

Hello anyone?

a D in anything will hurt anyone a little, but if the rest of your grades were A’s and B’s, you should still fare well. You should have took physics though if you’re good at math. I’m not taking it, because I’m not…haha.

Ok, anyone else who can give me some thoughts?

Let me see if I got this straight…
You got an A in Earth Science and a D in Chem.
And now you are asking if you should have taken Physics Honors instead of the two fore mentioned classes?
Well, yes, considering you got a D in Chemistry.
What do you want to major in in college?
Sciences or Engineering?

Just wondering, not to be an ass or anything, but why would anyone expecting to go to an academically prestigious or well-touted college take regular earth science over Honors/AP Physics, when they know they’d do well in it?

No, Business. But I’m also interested in taking Liberal Arts and Sci courses as well.
The fact that my secondary school transcript looks **** like that without the Physics and passing grade in Chem indicates that I’m not competitive for a top school. But I don’t know why I even dropped Physics cause I feared a pre-rigorous course (Maybe if I had taken it, I probably would’ve done well). The “A” in Earth isn’t impressive either way am I correct?
But I need to know if the aspects have some affect on a transfer candidate with strong college record also.

Bump…

Just take physics next year and get an A in it. If you’re applying to private colleges they look at your first semester senior grades, which actually have a lot of weight.

But honestly, if you’re going to major in business colleges probably don’t care too much.

I never took physics or chem in high school, yet I’m majoring in mech. engineering at Columbia.
Don’t worry about it.

I’m already a senior if you can review what I wrote. I’m heading to college next year.
It’s too late to take Physics right now.
I’m not applying to private colleges based on my HS profile… I just said that I intend on transferring. But thanks for the encouragement if the two don’t really matter. I was really worried about my “cover up.”

Bump one last time…

oh my god. stop bumping your pointless, worry-ridden threads, like 5 times each. go bother your guidance counselor with your excessive paranoia.

lisaG- You read my mind. Thanks for doing the dirty work.

Ok, but this is what CC is also there for. I appreciate the other comments that was posted with helpful thoughts.
