Swat it. It’s after the cookies. ;)

Youdon’tsay, oh! I forgot the brownies!

:: puts out a platter of brownies ::

Ah, that’s better!

:: puts out fresh tissues for Harriet ::

Tea and tears. We’ll be here for you, Harriet! And we’ll share the cookies with the little pirate, too!

i’m going to be a senior and im convinced that i’m the only average student on this site: 3.2 weighted gpa, never had an AP or honors class, get lots of B’s with the occasional A, did pretty well on the ACT though (27). i just came here looking for some first-hand info about some colleges and wound up finding a bunch of people obsessed with numbers and stats. discouraging at first, but ive found it to be pretty laughable.

lol, Queen’s Mom!!

:: gets the flyswatter ::

Wow, someone has a much bigger flyswatter than I have, and used it!

What a gooey mess; just heard someone calling for clean-up on aisle three. That should take care of it!

I guess we just got rid of the annoying fly.

And how!!

Cookies, oldfort? gs1002?

:: passes cookie platter around ::

Mmm, brownies. Many thanks.

I had a special request for chocolate chunk espresso brownies, so I’ve added them to the cookie platter, too. Enjoy!

gs1002, I really think my daughter is above average (hey, I’m her mother-I’m alowed), but her stats don’t look that much better than yours (except she is in mostly honors and/or AP classes).

I think gs1002 is an above-average student. 3.2 is definitely not “average.”

gs1002, don’t sell yourself short!

So are we starting another thread with the delicious treats? Owlice, you’re a dear!
gs1002, hang in there. Just do your best…

I’m always willing to feed folks, Kathyc! (Usually because I’m munching on something myself…!)

I have fruit salad, too, and pizza is coming in a bit. Fruit salad is Eastern Shore cantaloupe (oh, man, these are goooood!), strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. I forgot to get grapes, darn it!

I keep wondering what kids are going to do for ECs in a few years after world hunger is solved and the secrets of the universe are discovered by high school sophmores angling for spots in the Ivies. ECs at our house consisted mainly of church or sport team “strongly recommended” events. Do hours studying “Magic” strategy count? Wish it were so!

Owlice, are there any snickerdoodles on that platter??

mikasauntie, of course!

You might also like the sugar cookies; they are flavored with almond. (We refer to them as “crack cookies” or “crackies” in my house, because they are soooo addictive!)

^^^ Did anyone see The Onion a couple of weeks ago with the story about how homeless shelters were closing, creating a crisis for resume padders? :)

mikasauntie, you betcha there are!

That Onion article was hilarious precisely because there was so much truth in it.

I swear, some of these people started building resumes in kindergarten.

Okay, I have to stop posting for a bit; I’m getting alllll kinds of weirdness when I try. My posts are out of order, don’t appear and then magically do, and other things.

Before I go, I’ll tell you what kinds of pizzas will be here shortly for your dining pleasure: plain, pepperoni, and mushroom. Also a white sauce pizza with spinach and feta on it, and another white sauce pizza with bacon and onion. And a regular white pizza, too, with extra garlic and fontina cheese.

In addition to fruit salad, there are fresh apricots to munch on, too, and a green salad as well. Enjoy!

It might sound sad, however, realistically, unfortunately, 3.2 weighted (what was unweighted, since colleges strip it down anyway?) will not get a person even to some state schools. No need to be discouraged, though. No reason to try to go thru a locked door when there are so many of them that are very wide open for you. If college education is a goal, go for it. There are some perfect GPAs that decide to stay in their hometown and save some $$$ for a future this way. There is nothing wrong with this approach.
