I Saw You

In my local paper, there’s a really cool section called “I Saw You.” It’s basically a personals section except it’s more interesting and more specific. Instead of posting a general profile in hopes of finding a match, people writing the personals refer to someone specific they saw in public and would’ve liked to get to know better but didn’t get a chance to for some reason or another (there’s almost always some indication of reciprocated interest). They write the ad hoping that the other person reads the paper too. It is with this idea in mind that I start this thread, except, of course, we can’t expect the people we see in public to be on this forum too (that would be crazy). Yes, the ad is basically a hopeless plea, but that’s what makes it interesting (the ads are usually creative and appeal to literary minds). so go ahead… take your chance. Pour your heart out!

What’s the demographic? At least, what is published. Is it a lot of dudes writing in, girls or fairly even?

Both genders and all sexual orientations are fairly represented.

i love those! my paper has them too and they just seem so ridiculously romantic lol. i slightly have this inner hope that one day i will find my description in there…that would be cool. haha!

Am I the only person that finds it cool, yet slightly creepy at the same time?

i saw u…u were in ur in ur dorm room friday night posting on cc while everyone else was having a good time…i know that doesnt narrow it down on this site though

i highlight the creepiness as well… just a tad

I bet the number of stories from guys outnumbers the girls 10:1, but they try to publish the genders evenly so it doesn’t seem like a cockfest of missed connections.

I think it’s pretty darn creepy…grow some balls and just talk to the person.

The Washington Post used to have a section like that in the personals (i love reading the personals!) but I guess it was sort of pointless so they took it out like 2 years ago.

Laser, it’s not fun when you go up to every person that stares at you. Now, that would be creepy.

when i lived in england there was this website called gumtree.com that had all these ads under the “missed connections” section.

eg: i saw you on the 136 bus that boarded at liverpool street at 7pm last friday. you wore a grey work-suit and brown framed spectacles. you were the prettiest thing i’d ever seen. wanted to talk to you but there were two fat jamaican ladies in my path and couldn’t get past them before my stop arrived. i was the bald guy with the barcode tattooed on my head. if you read this and would like to chat, email me on iliketoromancewomenonbuses@yahoo.co.uk

I’ve seen that on some websites too (Yahoo, Washington Post)

craiglist has that too.

I saw you through your window while you were showering.

Lol, is collegeconfideto as sexy as he sounds on CC?

Collegeconfideto is a girl. :D

Well, how sweet of you guys taping and spying on each other…

lol

are you transferring anywhere this fall or waiting a year to apply elsewhere?

No, I’m not (didn’t apply anywhere). I really want to apply to some schools next year, but the college admissions process has left me paralyzed so far.

well good luck you should apply to wesleyan :)
