I scored a 2140 on the SATs. I want a 2300+ on my next one. What should I do?

I’m going to get the blue book and study from that, but should I do anything else to supplement my studying? And when should I take my second test? A couple months after the first month, or maybe 4-5 months? And when should I try the subject tests; inbetween my first and second SATI or after my second SATI?

Thanks!

First concentrate on the blue book, but since you have a 2140 already without having studied from it, you’re in pretty good shape. Nevertheless, THE BLUE BOOK IS YOUR BIBLE. If you’re shooting for 2300+, Barron’s 2400 is great. You can also try a bit of Princeton Review (which is not all bad) but do not go for Kaplan (too hard to be realistic). Use a couple of older SATs; they’re good for vocab practice. Look around here on this site for book recommendations.

As to when you should take it, that all depends on the practice tests. If you’ve done them under test conditions (ie timed, short breaks, etc), look at scores and see how you feel. If you’re starting to make consistent 2300+s on the practice tests, then you decide for when to take the SAT.

I don’t know as much about SAT II Tests, sorry!!

Best of luck :)
