The first time I scored a 15 and last time I scored a 17. Should I retake the ACT??? Is it worth it to risk getting the same score or possibly the going down ? I only have about a month left to prep for this test. Next ACT Test Date is October 26, 2008.
I asked my counselor today and he said I shouldn’t bother retaking again unless I will score way higher than the last time I took it because what if my score go down or stayed the same? it won’t be worth it then.

What do you think? Leave it or retake it?

I want to attend CSU Long Beach University in Fall 2009. The average ACT Composite score is a 22 from 2006 freshment applicants. I don’t know what is the average right now.

if the average is 22, then you should definitely retake and hopefully get a higher score to improve your chances. Good luck.

I’d try the SAT if you’re doing this poorly on the ACT.

How did your scores in induvidual sections (R, M, E, S) change? If they all went up or some went up and others went down, you should consider retaking.

Since you can send just your best score, what do you have to lose from retaking? Just a Saturday morning and about $40. The potential gains are worth much more.

Did you prep at all between takings?

It is not worth taking if I spend one whole month and retaking the test for 3-4 hours on a Saturday and receive the same exact composite score or going down.

one whole month studying I mean.

Well on my first time taking it was a composite score of 15
my scores for all subjects were
English - 10
Math -14
Reading - 16
Science - 18

My second time taking it was:
Composite score of 17
English - 18
Math - 16
Reading -14
Science - 20

I improve all of my scores from my first time except for reading.
I went down by two points.

I think that you’ve already made up your mind not to retake.
