I slack, it shows. What are my chances?

Alright guys.

I am as average as it gets with my 3.05 GPA and an expected ACT of 25-30(the plan test told me this. Take it with a grain of salt.)

Extra curriculars- Football/Soccer, Red Surge(Pep club B.S.), SADD(students against drunk driving), and Ecology Club.

Schools I’d like to go to-
U of I.
EIU.
SIU-C.
Purdue
U of Wisc.

What are my chances I’ll make it into these schools? Any within my reach that I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance.

25-30 is a HUGE range… you really need to get solid scores to know.

^ verrrrry true

idk
u of i may be a bit of a stretch, esp in a highly impacted major

do you mean football and soccer
or are you referring to the same sport but just using the two names…

and i cant help you much on the other schools b/c i know next to nothing about them, except they have football (american football)

You are in at EIU and SIU. The others are reaches. Take a look at Iowa State, Ohio University and Bowling Green. Good luck!

I did both football and soccer, I see how it looked confusing. Sorry.

UofI -I’d be going for a business major so I don’t need anything insane.

I’m a junior and taking my first ACT test in Dec. so I can’t give you a solid score. Should I take the test more than twice? I was told to not do that but it was weird and I don’t know if what they said is true.

Take the ACT at least twice, once as a junior and once as a senior. The ACT is based on acquired knowledge, and you’ll have more to offer the older you get. I remember taking the ACT science section and having 1/4 of it deal with an astronomy topic I had just covered in school. That made it so much easier, because Science is one section that is hard to complete on time.

Does your school have Prairie State Exams in April? If so, you’ll be taking the ACT for one day of those exams.

General cutoffs for U of I are around a 26 ACT, although this could be raised with the high influx of students this year and next. Ask your guidance counselor if your school has the Naviance scattergrams available. You’ll be able to see how strict and sudden the cutoffs are for state schools. Since your GPA is on the low side, you’ll really need to work hard to pull it up, and to study for your ACT. Don’t take anything for granted, unless you are another Rashard Mendenhall.

Rashard Mendenhall? I don’t follow.

Guess you don’t follow Illinois football. Not a problem. Did you read the rest of what I wrote?

I took the ACT no study at all. No classes or pre-tests and got a 25. I’d assume I can easily get a 27 for my next few times.

GPA is on the upswing so that is a good thing.

I have changed my choice in colleges due to my change in what I want to study.
