I suck at Paragraph correction

How do you go about answering paragraph correction q’s like these ones?

ORIGINAL: (revise sentence) Branson is a tourist town, like ski towns and beach resorts, it is visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year during the months when its shows are in season.

Now, I narrowed down to 2 choices:
A) Branson is a tourist town, like those near ski or beach resorts: each year, hundreds of thousands of travelers visit during the months when its shows are in season.

E) Branson is a tourist town: hundreds of thousands of travelers like those who visit ski or beach resorts visit Branson during the months each year when its shows are in season.

How do you go about choosing the correct answer?

ORIGINAL: (combine the 2 sentences)
There are many recreations and natural attractions in this area, like golf courses, lakes, rivers, caverns, and mountains. People really don’t know what the place has to offer.

B) People unfamiliar with Branson might not realize that this area offers a range of recreational activities and natural attractions, including golf courses, lakes, rivers, caverns, and mountains.

D) People unfamiliar with Branson do not know that golf courses, lakes, rivers, caverns, and mountains can all be found in the Branson area if they were to visit.

Answer explanations I have are garbage and useless.

Also, what can I do to improve this portion of W? I am really bad at paragraph correction…I usually make 1 or 2 mistakes in everything else in W but paragraph correction destroys any hope of 770+.

Get a basic grammar book like one of the ones by Dianne Hacker. Study parallelism, run ons/fused sentences, and many of the agreement issues: pronouns and subject/verb. There are some good on-line sites as well. One I like is called the Guide to Grammar and Writing. It has lots of quizzes and they link back to the rules. It does not have passwords and you can work on whatever you need to review.
