<p>I know my GPA and ACT are a bit low, but I’m thinking taking 13 AP/college courses by the end of the year might help me somewhat. Though, those are my weaknesses and I’m rather worried about it.</p>
<p>I think that in my essays my interest in business is strongly stated and shown through my activities as well.</p>
<p>I also forgot to add that I qualified and participated in the Quiz Bowl National Tournament as well as winning 3 debate awards and lettering in both debate and QB the past 3 yrs. I don’t think it helps way too much, but I believe ECs are above average.</p>

<p>Yeah… I sure hope my choice to truly challenge myself to the fullest and take 13 AP/college classes doesn’t come back to haunt me. If it was weighted, I’d think it’s very respectful. We shall see, though.</p>
<p>^Naw, good practice for college right? Unless you choose to do poorly, which you obviously aren’t setting out to do, so it seems like a win/win deal right?</p>
<p>Like for me, I simply was doing it because I love to learn more. I like challenging myself. At the time and still now, I didn’t let my GPA affect my overall decisions at all. I was not doing it solely to be “competitive” for colleges. </p>
<p>But if it truly is that one thing that ruins my chances at these top colleges, I’m not so sure.</p>
<p>hey, i totally understand where you’re coming from cuz i’m in kinda the same situation. i took exactly 13 APs too and had a below avg unweighted GPA, so yea im hoping my ECs will make up for it. And i initially took the classes just for challenging myself, not so it’ll look good in my transcript. anyway as for your chances, i think most of these are good matches to low reaches. wharton is a high reach because they place a lot of emphasis on gpa and uchicago is prolly a good reach.</p>
<p>Well, I was accepted ED to Stern, and although your GPA is not exceptionally high, you took many AP’s, which makes up for it completely. I think you should take the ACT again, and aim for 32+, I had a 2130 SAT. I own my own stock portfolio also, and I did not put it in my Application…I just had a bad feeling, I do not know why, but they will not give you Financial Aid (because they are stingy) if you state the amount of money you earned, just being hypothetical. Also, just the fact stocks just state you have a higher degree of luck( which it boils down to in the end) than other people maybe? If you have work experience, that looks better. I just didn’t put the fact I had a portfolio ( which kicks @$S) into my app. </p>
<p>I wasn’t sure at all whether or not to include it and if so, whether it should go under EC’s or work experience. I decided to put it under ECs since I operate my own business for work experience. I sure hope it isn’t a negative as I decided to add it in at the last minute.</p>
<p>To be honest though, I never thought of the financial aid aspect of it. Eek. Both my business and stock portfolio has earned me a good amount, so that’s gonna hurt financial aid. I don’t think I stated the amount made really, but still… I wish I thought of that earlier.</p>
<p>Thanks. Yeah, I’m going to see if there’s an ACT opening left on time. I didn’t study and got that 29. I think if I really spent time studying I could get up in the 30s and that’d help me. Hopefully there are slots left!</p>
<p>You might wanna look into a few more matches, you scores and GPA make you high reaches for Ivies and your ECs arent amazing to get you in alone.</p>
<p>Your AP’s are solid but i got just as many myself n my avg is alright idk. 3.65 is like an 88 or lower i think?that said…

<p>NYU’s average GPA that was accepted last year was like a 3.7 UW and I highly doubt most took 13 AP/college courses. They also rely on the essays a good amount and I think that might help me. I dunno…</p>
<p>I’ve already gotten accepted into the University of Minnesota so I could always end up going there. That wouldn’t be too bad, I suppose. I do agree that I’m risking it, though.</p>
