I think i have an explanation for UCSD's randomness, if any

yeaaa so im not sure, but its just a suggestion. as UCSD has 6 colleges, and is sort of segregated (not really, just distanced and not so united) i think that the college you applied to back in november has a say in your admission, like they ahve their own criteria etc.
just a suggestion.

i’m sure it plays a decision in where you get into. however, the point system at ucsd is very straight forward. this year’s cutoff was 7426 points and i got 7214 so i did not get in. i really like ucsd’s admissions process. if you pass the cutoff you are in before they even look at your majors. they will then place you in a major. impacted majors will be harder to get into, but if your alternate major is not impacted you are basically accepted.

do you know where i can get this point cut off thing?

i called ucsd this morning and talked to a representative. you can find info on admissions on their website. more info can be found in the ucsd forum section, check it out!

where is the link to this forum?

they give points for ECs too. if you have a leadership position that sounds kinda grand u can get the extra boost to get u in. i know lots of ppl who might have “faked” or embellished a position on their app to get in haha
