I think I screwed myself over (PSEO)

Who else does PSEO? In case you’re not aware, it’s where you take all or some of your classes at a local college for dual highschool and college credit. I’m a rising senior, just finished my spring semester. First semester was great, I earned a 3.6 GPA, but i ended up taking too many credits spring semester and failing a math course (I had a huge issue with the teacher, I couldn’t get around her teaching style and she was extremely condescending whenever I tried to ask for help. Tutors taught in a different style and that only confused me more…) and only doing decent in many of my other classes, earning around a 2.5 GPA. I tried to retake my failed course during summer semester, but there are no classes open and no professors I’ve talked to are granting overrides.

I’m supposed to take calc in the fall, I think I’m going to double up and retake trig (my failed course) online as well. A professor I talked to (who wouldn’t give me the override) said that trig wasn’t necessary for taking his calc course. I’m probably shooting myself in the foot, seeing as maths are extremely difficult for me already, but if I retake that trig course, it will replace the F on my transcript. :frowning: But I got a 28 on the AC the first time i took it, and I’m retaking it in September, hopefully a higher ACT score will balance out my grades.

I know this is mostly my fault for taking too many credits/not getting a tutor/dropping the course, but I’m just ranting, I guess.

Lewis and Clark is my dream school, but I really should change my mind.

You failed Trig? Sorry, that is obviously irrelevant and there is nothing that can be done at this point. I can’t imagine a calc class that doesn’t use trig considering we used it in the first chapter of Calc this spring -limits (I’m in precalc and after we finished the book we moved on to Calc for the last few weeks.) However I think you should indeed take it and get an A. Colleges would be impressed if you can prove hat it was just a misunderstanding with the teacher or too many courses.

It was my understanding that to take Calc, you needed to take Pre-Calc or at least have knowledge of Pre-calc. Considering Pre-calc is basically Algebra combined with Trig, why in the hell would you take Calc?

Well, I actually talked to a professor to attempt to retake trig over the summer, he wouldn’t grant me the override necessary into his course because he said trig was not a prereq for his calc course (which I am taking.)

I like your viewpoint. I was intending on doubling up on maths, but I think if i just focused my energy into getting an A in calc that would be better. I could retake trig in the spring if I have to.

Thanks, I really appreciate your viewpoint.

Ok good luck (wo)man!
