I started shedding quite a bit about 3 -4 years ago or so. I went to the dermatologist and we discussed any meds i was on. I had been on Welchol for 18 months. I went to read about it, and sure enough…hair loss is a minor side effect for a small amount of people. i went off it, and the shedding seemed to slow down. Around the same time as the Welchol, I also started Retin A. I have now been on it for almost 4 years I think. My shedding never really stopped and I’ve been off Welchold for 2.5 years. I’ve been quite distressed and have made another appt. with the derm.
So, something got me thinking today about Retin A. I googled it…and wouldn’t you know! Tons of posts about people losing their hair after being on Retin A! I’m stopping today. Thankfully I have ALOT of hair, it’s thin though. I bet I"ve lost 30% of it or so…I don’t think anyone can tell but DH and myself. But when i put it in a ponytail, I can see bare spots on the side.
So, I’ll let everyone know in a few months what happens. i heard it will take several months to start growing back.
It’s been SO great for my skin. Pores are so much smaller and my skin just looks healthier and it really did stop minor wrinkles around the eyes. Oh well…I guess I’ll start doing other things…don’t know what yet.
