I think that I have a disoder... Does anyone else have this?

I believe it is called called, “I-can-ace-any-test-regardless-of-how-difficult-it-is-EXCEPT-for-the-SAT-itus.”

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!?!!? The ACT test is fine for me (perfect scores most of the time), but I can’t get more than THREE questions correct on the entire SAT subject tests!!! It’s not that they’re too difficult, but they are the most arbitrary and random questions!

Does anyone else have this problem?

SATs are tricky and they follow a format that is designed to trick you. Once you figure out their tricks, you’ll do fine  Just practice! And if it’s the subject tests, make sure you know the material that you’re being tested on.

Haha, I’m the same. We’re just not compatible with the SAT! But it’s not a problem. Dump the SAT and go steady with the ACT. It’ll be romantic.

well SAT 1 is clearly designed to trick u…SAT 2 is mainly, if u can understand the concepts you’ll do fine.

Did you do okay on the PSAT or the PLAN? They should be good indicators.

if you don’t do well on the SAT 2s then you don’t know your stuff. SAT I is tricky, not SAT II. And you don’t even need much knowledge to ace the ACT either. So my diagnosis: you lack the knowledge. What subject by the way?

“you don’t even need much knowledge to ace the ACT”

Erm, no.

But I semi-agree that you don’t know what you need to know for the SAT subject tests (ie you go to a ‘bad’ school that hasn’t prepared you for the tests). This was the case with me. I haven’t gotten my official scores back yet, but on SAT subject practice tests (math II and chem) I’d get high 500s/low-mid 600s, while on the ACT I got a 33.

It’s that the ACT does not test specific subjects, while the SAT IIs do. The ACT does require knowledge, intellect, and time management, but in a different capacity.

Agree?

Hahaha, I’m your absolute opposite. I cannot do the ACT, but I CAN do the SAT II and SAT I sort of… xD

I know my material. I just know the wrong material… for this test. The things that the SAT biology test tests you on are arbitrary, random, useless, and stupid on a whole. For example, I have taken the equivalent of 2 years of advanced college biology (molecular and biochemistry), but the questions on the SAT II are just DIFFERENT than what I’ve learned. Sure, you won’t see recombinant DNA on there (an arguably difficult concept to grasp), but you will see a question about “cytochrome c,” which I’ve never heard of and is a completely useless indicator of one’s knowledge of biological processes.

I sound awful when I say this, but…use PREP books. They tell you that SAT IIs aren’t like tests in school. I took SAT II bio and the questions were nothing like the tests/material in school. However, because I did Princeton Review/Barron’s to prepare for it, it wasn’t impossible.

How does the SAT I try to trick you? Sometimes I will look at the questions on a test and try to figure out how they are trying to trick you.(if I haven’t studied for a particular test) It sounds good in theory when you either do that or flip a coin, but based on my latest math tests it doesn’t work too well!

The SAT II on bio did hit you on stuff they thought you might not know, like stuff that the teacher glossed over. Pretty amusing, because after the AP test our teacher was really apologizing as we had studied all the wrong stuff…they through an interesting curve ball that he didn’t expect…I guess they were thinking why test you on what you do know? Our teacher talked a lot about “cytochrome C” though.

I can take tests in stuff besides English and Math. English is just weird(but for whatever reason I happen to be a really good guesser). I can’t do the math section very well as I am too slow and can’t remember how to do a lot of the problems.
