I Totally Changed My Mind... Penn State has the Best Financial Aid EVERRR!!!!!!

okay so today i went on a visit to penn state (even though i pretty much ruled it out due to the expensive OOS cost). Anyway i was admitted into the college of Earth and Mineral Sciences and i had a meeting set up with some director and some associate dean of the school. They sat down and told me blah blah blah why penn state is so cool. The director told me he would send me a $1000 “token of appreciation” scholarship, so i was thinking cool free money. He then said the associate dean wanted to talk to me. She told me that i had potential and I was capable of being a “scholar” so she just out of the blue gave me a scholarship that would cover all of my tuition FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS, even if rates go up. Also last week I got a letter from a Penn State organization telling me i would make a good candidate for a 3k/yr renewable scholarship. So if I got that It would be all cake. I also might be eligable for the Deans Scholarship because of Grades.

SO…Heres what im now looking at for my Penn State Cost (per year)

OOS Tuition- $23,700
Rm & Bd- $7,750
Books- $1,200
=$32,650 BEFORE AID

AID AMOUNTS… 23.7k (scholarship) + 7.5k (FA Package) + 1k (token scholarship)= 32.2k IN AID, before 3k scholarship or Deans Scholarship

LONG STORY SHORT, IF I COME TO PSU…IT WILL BE FREE

Wow. Very cool. Congratulations! I’ve heard very good things about the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. Good luck wherever you choose to go.

Was just wondering… Did you get this scholarship because you were going to the School of Earth and Mineral Sciences or was it a scholarship that could be applicable to any of Penn States sub-colleges?

the lady who gave it to me said there are 50-60 recipients each year, from all of the different colleges

What were your stats?
