My parents and I turned down the opportunity to invest $120,000 ($30,000x4 years) in a bubbly stock market of the mid-late 1990’s where we could have comfortably exceeded 20% returns annually.

Even so, according to my parents, LAC educations were the best investments they ever made (BMC, SC, HC)… and inparticular, HC, where they gave an additional $200 @ graduation despite us seriously putting them in the poorhouse at the end of this run.

It’s my experience that you will meet students who turned down every school imaginable (except, for some strange reason, never heard of a case of Yale) for HC. You will also meet kids (who will totally impress you too) who would have liked to have had such choices as well.
