<p>For many years we had a wonderful Sheltie, beautiful, sweet, smart, loyal, a wonderful family dog. He died six years ago and we still miss him.</p>
<p>We also have a long haired chihuahua/papillon mix, another wonderful dog, the sweetest thing in the world. She is seven but acts like she is seven months!</p>
<p>We were thinking of getting her a companion, and my son sent us the most adorable picture of a sheltie/papillon mix…and now we want to find one!</p>
<p>Whatever you do, don’t buy a designer dog online. The puppy mill owners are all over the internet, and the suffering of the breeding dogs is immense.</p>
<p>I supppose it will do no good to suggest you get a mixed breed dog from your local shelter…?</p>
<p>You’re right, I don’t want a dog from a puppy mill…just wondering how to go about finding the mix that I want without a puppy mill breeder. Our present mix was a soccer team dog…team mates’ dogs had puppies, the older sister was heading to vet school…</p>
<p>We have looked on line at various rescue groups and of course there are lots of adorable puppies out there…we’d just like to try to get one that is a mix of our two favorite breeds.</p>
