I want to Transfer AGAIN as a Junior?! Stumped

I am currently at a small college (5000 kids) playing basketball in the middle of Maryland. Its in farmland and it’s kind of in a big town, but not really. I’m from Baltimore and miss it terribly. I transferred from a REALLY small school (1000 kids) because it was really bad and it was not fun at all. Not the college experience I was looking for and no one wanted to party. I like to get good grades, but atleast drink some alcohol??

I transferred to this division 3 school so that I could continue to play basketball, but now that I am about a month in, I’m wondering if I should have just forgot basketball altogether and went big. Maybe to a big city school, because the girls on the team are treating me like crap and aren’t welcoming at all. I had to get a new roommate already (she was my teammate!) and the weekends are boring! You can’t really find anything to do on saturdays because we don’t really have that much school spirit. you just sit around waiting for 9pm so we can start drinking, and if you can’t find a party than SH-T.

I really don’t know what to do now, becuase I have been playing basketball all my life, but I can’t transfer to another team, but I don’t really think I can get along with this one.

Any advice?

Is there anyone at all on the team who you get along with? Why don’t you try speaking with that person, and find out if you have somehow done something wrong without knowing it - there may be some team tradition that you missed, or maybe some of the other players believe (wrongly) that you have replaced a popular player from last year, etc. Talk with your coach as well. Maybe the rest of the team are a bunch of unhappy whiners, or maybe they are reacting to something that isn’t your fault, but that they will get over given a bit more time.

How do you like your classes? Is this place a good match for your academic and/or career goals? If those things are working for you (or if you can imagine them working for you if you give everything a bit more time), then do consider staying for the classes, and just playing your sport in a recreational league. Shifting the balance in your life so that you focus more on your long-term goals, and less on the immediate desire to play your sport, might make a difference.
