I know I have nobody to blame but myself and there’s literally no excuse, but i have some remaining hope left. I had a pretty bad freshman year of college and was smacked hard in the face by classes that i should’ve did pretty well in. That being said I don’t want to give up and I plan to retake calc 1 in the summer. I want to try my absolute hardest to do well my sophomore year so that I can transfer. My gpa isn’t bad and meets the requirement to transfer, but I do know that there are multiple factors that go into transferring. I want to major in music technology when i get there and minor in computing. I desperately want to turn my situation around and know that I have to get my ■■■■ together in order to do so. How likely is it that I’ll be able to land a spot if I do well over the summer and my sophomore year of college?
Why don’t you do well, and then in the Fall apply to Ga Tech and others - and let the chips fall where they may.
If you get in, great.
If not, there are other schools for you to attend.
Good luck.
Have you been to office hours every week with questions about problems that you found difficult or a bit of the lecture thar was confusing? If not, start now and start doing so your very first week of summer term too.
Make sure you don’t have undiagnosed ADD or EF issues (-> diagnosis theough campus health).
If you can’t it turn around and get an A, I don’t see how you can get into GTech and survive, considering their version of calc is more intense than average. In addition, they have a core of classes all students must take.
Why do you want to transfer to GTech BTW?
For now put all of your focus and energy into doing your best at your current school. Work hard on academics, get involved on campus, develop relationships with professors, etc. Assume you will stay at your college through graduation.
When the time comes, you can always throw in a couple of transfer applications but don’t count on them working out.
