So I spent the entire month of April flip-flopping between Wash U and Brown. In the end, I chose Wash U because my parents wanted me to go there. I VERY MUCH regret this decision!!! It’s taken me a couple more months to fully realize this but now I know for sure. If I called Brown, would they let me back in? I realize that my chances are SLIM, SLIM, SLIM but what about people whose admission was rescinded? Wouldn’t their spots be open? Or will I just have to wait a semester or two until I can officially transfer?

You could try, but if it doesn’t work out, give Wash U a chance. You could love it there. If a year has passed and you still regret going there, then transfer.

cinnamon,

Regarding your post title; We would all like to be able to do that.

Wash.U. is ranked higher than Brown. (USNWR, the infallible oracle of college ranking).

You are to be congratulated for getting into two great schools.

I am tempted to make a facetious comment. My wife tells me that would be cruel.

Good luck to you.

If you make the most of your college experience, either of the two will serve you well. See how it goes, and if you’re really disliking it, then try to transfer.

Try and see if they’ll let you go back to Brown (it can’t hurt asking. Worst comes to worst, you’re in the same position you are now.), if not go to Wash U and genuinely try to enjoy your time there.

If you spend all your time upset about Brown, you’ll probably be miserable. After the year is up, see if you like Wash U enough to stay or if you still want out, you could probably transfer.

At least give Wash U a chance before you try to persuade Brown to re-accept you. Spending a year there will either convince you that you’ve made the right decision, or just reinforce your belief that Brown is the school for you. If the latter is true, then try to transfer–your argument will sound a lot stronger if you’ve actually experienced a different environment than if you just say you changed your mind.

Washh U is a great, great school…

They already admitted people from the waitlist to fill your spot as well as the spots left by people that got rescinded, I highly doubt that they’d be able to help you out at this point. Obviously, it doesn’t hurt to try, you never know, but it’s probably not going to happen.

Don’t spend your time at Wash U obsessing about Brown, give it a year then consider transferring if you even still want to.

Yes, yes, yes, all of you are right. I don’t think I will call because even if Brown was, by some amazing chance, able to take me back, I don’t know that I would want to go this late in the game. And I will throw myself heart and soul into Wash U and give it a fair chance.

Thank you!

Let me guess…you found out Emma Watson was coming to Brown and had a change of heart? :P

cause that’s how rational people choose where they want to go to college

Haha, no. I already strongly suspected she would choose Brown when I made my decision :)

Wash U is a beautiful school full of intelligent people. Like Brown. It’s in a sort of gritty city that has lots of opportunities for community involvement, like Brown.

You made a good choice! Please give Wash U a shot for a full year. I have bunches of friends going there. It’s an amazing college!!

…But it doesn’t have emma watson.

haha jkjk

HAHAHA

Maybe you can transfer to Brown next year…and meet Emma Watson :D
