I was accepted into college but never attended. What does this mean for me?

Because of an expansive list of issues (family troubles, lack of transportation, loss of internet, trying to keep someone safe from abuse, and my own personal anxiety and fear of talking to people and explaining the circumstances for my absence), I applied to college last semester, was accepted, set up a plan for a scholarship to pay for it, but never once attended. What does this mean for me? My situation seems to have improved, and my parents are pressuring me to apply again - to the same college - when I just don’t feel ready. I’ll be honest, I’m scared, and I have no confidence. I don’t know how to approach this situation and would like advice on how the college (public) will react? What are the consequences for wasting the scholarship (besides the loss of the money)? And when I reapply, what should I say (or do) in the way of apologies? I’d be grateful for any advice!

I hope the loss of “internet” is not one of the reason.

You need to contact this place and speak with the admissions office. Only they can tell you what your options are. Sometimes it is simply a matter of re-activating your application.

  1. Speak to a mental health professional and get the anxiety addressed
  2. Talk to someone at admissions at the old college…say that you were not ready for college last year but have addressed the issues and would like to apply again.
  3. What can your family afford?
  4. Would community college be a good start for you?
  5. Would a school closer to home be good for you?

It was an issue because I could not attend online, but it’s not a problem anymore.

What are your stats (GPA both w and uw, test scores)? Your budget?
You DID un enroll right, and have no pending bills at the college?

That was only one school offering one scholarship at one point in your life. There are lots of schools that offer scholarships. Just do some research and apply for the next semester.
