I was expelled from a four-year university.

How hard is it to transfer to a different four-year university? I am currently a third year. I was expelled for disciplinary reasons, more specifically Title IX violation. I am in good academic standing 3.2 GPA, active on campus (student government, research, intramural sports). This is the case where the worst thing that could have gone wrong did.

Depending on the facts & circumstances of your case, transferring could be easy or difficult. In short, need more information.

You need to start with your own university. Find out what steps you need to take in order to re-enroll. While you certainly can go ahead and apply for transfer, your chance of admission will not be good if your current university does not indicate that you are “in good standing”. It is not unusual for colleges and universities to withhold that status until a student has completed whatever actions are required to qualify for readmission.

Unfortunately this is becoming all too common, this happened to my son as well. Take a chance and approach the admission staff ONE school you are thinking of transferring to. Be honest and explain what happened. If you have a report (names redacted) and feel comfortable sharing it, do so. This strategy worked for my son.

Finding myself in the same position with my son. Trying to transfer. Still waiting on title ix ruling. He’s been accepted to a few good schools. Hope your son is doing ok and feeling positive.

I believe @Hanna specializes in these cases.
