Havent taken the SAT’s, just started an individualized prep course, Got a 2100 on the PSAT’s as a Freshman

Im not exactly sure wat im looking to major in, but prolly something like English or something with writing, French and other Languages, and a minor in performance or something music related

I was looking at schools like Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth (ED and my French Aunt taught there), Mayb havard or columbia, Georgetown(uncle went there), JHU, Middlebury

THANKS!!!

I’d consider Princeton and Stanford also, since they don’t count freshman year–which seems to be your only downfall (along with the Honors Algebra course).

It’s too soon to give you chances, but you are on track for the schools above as well as Dartmouth if you can go 3.9 or 4.0 this coming year and get 2250+ on the SAT I.

For JHU and Georgetown, you’d need a 3.7 or 3.8 with 2130+ SAT I scores.

Best of luck–and congratulations on the good work so far.

You’re really heavy for being so short… Unfortunately 5’7" is way to small for most DI programs (ideally all rowers are over 6’2"). 6:55 isn’t bad, but 6:30 is better. And sub 6:00 even better than that.

It’s really hard to chance you based without any scores.

If you’re interested in rowing, contact a coach. Your 2k could get faster and you might be a good candidate for lightweights (if you lose 15/20 pounds).

yea ive been thinking about doing that, i not im short and heavy, but somehow im only 10% body fat, so i guess i could still lose some weight but not much, it seems to be a curse in my family of being short, heavy rowers, but my grandfather was in the olympics and my dad rowed V8 his first year at Temple in the 70’s so i might have some of that in me who knows? My coaches say my biggest plus is my ability as a stroke seat and my excellent form, could this help diminish my problems of being too short and a bit slower erg times?

Great technique can make up for lots of things, but all D1 rowing recruits have great technique.

Your 2k may very well get faster.

CONTACT SOME COACHES. They will let you know what they think. The shortest coach I’ve ever had was 5’10" (and three of our rowers, girls, were taller than him) but he used to stroke UPenn 1V8.

But let’s put it this way: There is a kid on Yale’s HW crew team. 5’8" and 120lbs. Obviously a coxswain. The shortest rower is 5’11" and 175lbs. The next smallest is 6’1" and 185lbs. Harvard’s shortest heavyweight is 6’0". They do have a 5’9" lightweight kid though. 3V8.

You could have a shot, but most coaches will balk at recruiting a rower as small as you. (height wise).

mayb i can grow a bit more before i start seeking to get recruited… who knows?

bump, i wanna hear some more opinions
