Has all this advice been enough to scare you into getting a physical?

See your doc, he will run a number of tests just to make sure that everything is in order on the surface. Blood tests, urinalysis, BP checks, EKG, possibly even glucose tolerance tests.
If it happens again, he may order more indepth testing to make sure that it is not a real problem.

Did you have any symptoms before you fainted? Light-headed, short of breath, extreme fatigue all of a sudden, or heart palpitations?

Is wine something you are used to drinking? I had a friend that had this type of reaction to red wine, turned out to be some type of allergy response (or something like that! ).

My husband though it might be something like that. He doesn’t drink & I rarely drink- plus this wine seemed to be strong ( cabernet in a big balloon glass)

I felt clammy & flushed at the same time- I have been tested for heart irregularities before ( they were inconclusive) so I will try & get my doc to suggest other testing. She is often hesitant to order tests- neither H or I have had a colonoscopy for example even though we are in our mid to late 50’s.
I really hate going to the dr though- Im worse than my H.

you got up three times to go to the restroom…and felt clammy before fainting…how about diabetic attack?

Maybe your doc will refer you to a cardiologist since you had a specific symptoms with the fainting. Fainting is not a normal occurance. And as someone else sort of said, heart disease in women can manifest in odd/unusual ways.

I attributed that( bathroom trips) to drinking a lot of coffee to stay awake past 8pm, but that is certainly something to be checked out.
I was borderline with my last pregnancy, which can be a risk factor.
Plus the coffee can mess with blood sugar
I should probably wean myself down but I live in Seattle, plus married to a Scandinavian who can drink coffee till he goes to bed.
It would explain a lot - I have very blurry vision- & am tired which probably my ADD medication is masking.

But hey if Alec Baldwin can lose 30 lbs I should be able to lose 15. ( of course I am not dating a 27 yr old yoga instructor either)
he does look a lot healthier though.

Maybe this is a good thing if it will make me go to the Dr. And if I am insulin resistant- perhaps I can get H more on board with changing our diet. I try to make healthier meals, but he weighs the same as he did when he was 20, so I don’t think he sees the point.
However, his best friend who was my age & who had type 1 diabetes, died several years ago & I know he struggled to manage it.

Just read that “Dragon Tattoo” book and they were constantly drinking coffee. I gave up the caffeine cold turkey a few months ago to deal with an increase in a-fib symptoms. It is easy and common to feel feint if you stand up suddenly. Monitor and take care of yourself.
