I wish I had known ...

I remember the first time I clicked on CC and saw the ridiculously high standards students set themselves to.

President and co-founder of 6 clubs …
Started a charity for homeless children …
Volunteer 300+ hours every year
3 varsity sports
Competed nationally and won ___ competition
14 APs, taking 8 senior year
Fluent in 3 languages
Journeyed to a 3rd world country

Alright, I’m exaggerating here (well, maybe not). But honestly, I had no idea the competition I would be up against this year. My parents were never concerned with college (or even high school) so I’ve kind of been bumbling my way through the past four years. I always thought it was enough to take the hardest classes, get As, and join a few clubs or sports. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as Science NHS …
I wish I had known about all this four years ago. I would’ve been a lot more involved, a lot more dedicated.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I know what you mean, but you also have to realize that most people aren’t like a lot of the people on here. All that matters is finding the right school for you in the major you want. Going to an ivy league school doesn’t determine someone’s success, the individual person does.

Plus don’t forget, most colleges do look at you in terms of your school, if your school doesn’t offer that many clubs, APs, etc. they take that into account, they want to see you are challenging yourself as best as possible while succeeding.
