You can mention anything you wish your BS had. It could be anything related to academics, ECs, athletics, arts, boarding life, winter breaks, languages…

I’ll start off. My HADES BS has a lot of courses in the catalog. However, they limit the number of courses you can take each year and they have standard core requirements. So you hardly get to take many of the elective courses and by the time you take them in senior year, they really don’t matter much to college admissions. I wish they let you take as many classes as you can handle like in public high schools.

What are your wishes? Parents and students, please join.

DS wishes school had an onsite barber shop, and until he got his braces off last summer, we wished there was an orthodontist onsite for adjustments, bands, etc.

choatiemom-- the student health center didn’t have an orthodontist who has an affiliation with the school. our D who was at Exeter was able to use the orthodontist in town for routine stuff–and emergencies (which, thankfully she never needed) but he was careful to only do what the orthodonist at home wanted-- and as he didn’t want to compromise the RX. I would check with the health Center…

@etondad: Choate has relationships with local practitioners and will coordinate appointments, but it means a taxi ride, time away from campus, and just a general hassle. Most kids wait for scheduled breaks to visit their home ortho, but there is always a need for new elastics and other routine stuff. We, and other parents, made the suggestion for the school to perhaps host a day a month for an ortho they have a relationship with to perform routine onsite care at the health center. It’s moot for us now as DS got his braces off last summer, but I know parents and students who would still like to see this happen.

They don’t have it because parents are usually broke by the senior year. If anyone is left standing, they will send you letters for alumni contributions. :D

Disclaimer: If anyone else is going to fall out of your chairs, I just want you to know that I’m not responsible for your medical bills. Take good care, as you already have your boarding school bills to worry about.

I wish my (future) bs offered Classical Civilisations as a class. As it is, I’m probably going to be studying 2 sciences, maths and history with the intention of doing history at college.

@JQuinn I can fall off my chair if I want, NHS FTW :D
