I would like to make a Post, my first one, To March Madness!

After the apps went out in November, I promised myself that I would not obsess. I would not lose sleep, I would not agonize. I would go about my daily living activities knowing that come what may, DD and I had covered every contingency from safeties to omg we are so dreaming! I was doing pretty good until one day in January while out cycling, my bike forgot our motto, Keep Rubber Down! I hit uneven pavement and took a flying dive over my handlebars. Diagnosis: Fx ribs, 6 weeks bedrest.

So what else does a helicopter P do with six weeks bedrest but take to the pages of CC and pore over the Admissions and Stats threads like it’s my job! Hour by wretched hour I methodically scan any post that will somehow bring me closer to the University Grail and/or its cousin, Fin Aid Fairy as we wait, and wait the final conclusion of this chapter in our lives. Yes, it’s my own version of March Madness. When DD walks in every afternoon, reflexively I ask, “Did you get the mail? Have you gotten any new emails? Have you logged on to your portals to check statuses?” Type AAA, ad nauseum.

To my credit, it is through this obsession that I caught a few loose ends we had missed which only serves to fan the flames of my madness. “See! See! I told you to check your spam folder, I knew it! I knew you’d miss something there!” Ughhh. I have tried reading but somehow even the bestsellers can’t keep my mind from wandering. Always have the feeling that I should be making better use of my time. You call it lurking, I call it research. It’s all you CCers fault! You all have such pearls of wisdom to bestow upon us noobs, details I could never have imagined even existed! If only it could be condensed into one big book that I could read and then PUT DOWN.

I have decided today that I would take my broken down self to the office even though I am only three weeks into healing. Even though I work in the heart of all the Claremont Colleges, a constant reminder, but I simply cannot allow this insanity of mine to prevail. Maybe I can answer phones or drag someone to lunch and chew the cud over apps. Hey at least it beats lurking err researching all day. So beware the Ides of March and all that and if you find yourself mini-obsessed, see above and know you are not alone. Positive vibes to all those still waiting now get off CC!
