IB Recognition for Undergrad at Hopkins?

Hello,

How much does Hopkins recognize an IB diploma? I will be applying for the IB program soon and want to know if it is worth it.

Also, one of my friends is a student in Canada and is wondering if u are international student having an IB diploma, does that make ur chances of getting in higher at Hopkins?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I don’t know if there’s any way to quantify how much an IB Diploma helps, but it’s definitely recognized as a challenging high school curriculum. The admissions officers know what the IB Diploma means and I would venture a guess that it makes you a pretty strong applicant on the academic side. However, I don’t know if would increase chances of admission any more than non-diploma student with an IB/AP/A-level course heavy curriculum.

In terms of what credit you can get from IB HL scores, see [this page](http://apply.jhu.edu/apply/apib.html).

Not sure if this helps, but several of my classmates/friends who are international were in the IB program.

I think it’s safe to assume that if you are applying to the Ivies, MIT, Hopkins etc, and your school offers the IB Diploma, you should be in it. I think if your school offers the IB and you’re not taking it looks like you’re not challenging yourself.
