IB test taken in soph year doesn't count? Correct?

I have heard that a soph taking a IB test does not have to study or be concerned about the score, because it will not go to the college adcoms. Is that correct? The rationale given was that IB is officially only for Juniors and Senior working toward the IB diploma, so tests taken before those years are only “practice”.

I dont think the IB will even let you sit for an exam sophomore year…but if they do it cannot count towards receiving a certificate or a diploma, you must be in your 11th or 12th years

Are you in an IB program?

IB is very different than AP – you must be enrolled in the class to sit the test and no --tests taken in sophomore year do not count. I don’t know of any IB school that allows sophomores to take the test, I believe that violates the rules (only eligible students may take the test).

Our school does allow the kids who are taking an IB class early to sit for the test (be it in sophomore year, or a HL in junior year), but they cannot count. the student can, however, take the test again the next year and have it count, with the same internal assessments used, I believe.
