I’d like to do the IB - does anyone know about Verde Valley? Or George? I want good academics but also art and community service

George School has very strong arts programs, with IB certificates available even for those who are not pursuing the full IB diploma. It is a Quaker school, so there is a community service requirement, along with regular on-campus work obligation.

I have not had much experience with Verde Valley, besides the fact that one of my friends goes there because his father is a teacher there. George is a HUGE art school…mostly theater. I know a lot of my friends who went there (15+ from my grade alone to be precise) are participating in either dancing or theater. George seems to be a very individual creativity-fostering school which forces students to reflect on their lives. I don’t know about their community service…however I believe that community service is also an integral part of a student’s time there, so I think that George, because it is so close to a ton of different cities (Baltimore, Philadelphia, NYC, DC, even Boston!), is a great place to go to school.

All I know of Verde Valley is that it is in one of the most beautiful places in the world–Sedona, AZ. It’s quite an artsy/New Age town, with the great outdoors all around, so you should look at their site and general info about Sedona and consider whether that would be a place you’d like to spend your high school years.
