IBank's list of recruitment schools

Anything URM-related will be a good boost, since firms do “diversity recruting.”

That’s good to know. Kinda bitter sweet though. It’s nice to have the position, but I’d feel like crap knowing I took another guys spot just b/c I’m black…idk…But anyways, does anyone know if Howard is even recruited? I know it’s on the list, but do people get hired or even interviews?

Just to correct some info I saw on here a while back about Columbia SEAS vs Columbia College, SEAS does get a lot of recruiting. It’s not a typical engineering school. There is not only an engineering management systems major, but an Operations Research major, and SEAS has just launched a Financial Engineering major which they claim the first undergrad financial engineering degree in the country. I don’t know whether that is true or not, but it is specifically designed to give undergrads opportunities on Wall Street.

financial engineering? what the…

First the school name will get you an interview…However, it will not get you a job.

Let there be no mistake…Howards’ Business School is well renowed. Everyone does not get excepted.

Many apply, few are chosen.

All of the firms that recruit at the Ivy League schools recruit at Howard because they are aware of the training that Howard Business Students receive.

I am speaking what I know. I have had 7 cousins to graduate from their business school. All of them found jobs and were recruited from Howard. All had job offers (ate least 3) before they graduated. All had paid summer internships at the big 4 accounting firms and/or IBanking. So, they were hot commodities. Howard encourages its students to do that.

Do your Ivy League schools do that? Or do they just take your money and truly make you feel like a number.

Freshprince, if you really want to know about education at an HBCU, find a graduate and ask them. You will get the opinions of the majority here, not the minority.

I hope you know some HBCU graduates.

Thanks for the info. I have a friend who goes there now but she’s a plotical scince major, and my aunt graduated form Howard, but she was an education major. I’ll def. do some research on my own though. BTW, you should be a business school rep for Howard lol

Well thanks,

But I don’t want people to be blind sighted about what HBCU’s have to offer.

Keep an open mind and find the right fit for you.

Ivy League schools maynot be iall that it is cut out to be for you.

What is the difference in back office work and front office work as it applies to M&A in an ibank? PE Fund? What is the difference in pay and in the type of work that you do? I have a solid in for a back office PE fund job but need to get an MBA for any front office work. Trying to decide if its worth going back to school for.

how abt UIUC’s and Kelley’s biz finance major? will undergrads from there be recruited?

Kelley first of all is a part of IUB, not UIUC. And yeah they place pretty well into wall street. Possibly up there with Stern, but that’s disputable.

I think Kahlen is asking about UIUC and Kelley separately. UIUC is a feeder to the Big Four firms, less known for investment banking graduates. Kelley is a respected school that has a good number going into i-banking. The top students at both schools will be well-recruited on the street.

Oops I didn’t see the “and” there…hehe just kidding.

Bumping old thread and…

Do any ibanks recruit at either Vanderbilt or Wake Forest?

Also, Vanderbilt doesn’t really have any undergraduate business programs, so would it best to major in Economics in their College of Arts & Sciences?

And how is Wake Forest’s undergrad Business program?

How likely would I be able to get a job w/ an Ibank if I went to either one of these schools?
Also, how are the programs at these two schools (Econ at Both, and the Undergrad Business Program at Wake Forest)?

can ne 1 give me the top ten california schools for IB recruiting

Bump!

Does anyone know the schools UBS is recruiting?

anyone? at all know?

I know UBS recruits heavily at the three main University of Michigan schools (LSA, Engineering and Ross).

UBS, JPMorgan, and CS consistently take a lot from Michigan. GS takes a lot full-time, but not so many interns. LB varies every year. In a given year, there aren’t a whole lot of ML and MS for either interns or full-time hires.

For M/B/B, there is always one of them that takes around 5 while the other 2 take around 1. Which M/B/B takes 5 varies every year. It’s like they take turns.

Why isn’t anyone talking about NYU? Stern’s pretty good, plus it’s location is unparalleled. Let’s not forget the overseas internships.

The real question is, hows CAS in terms of recruiting? Btw, NYU only has one career center for everyone.
