yes sir it is

The big players are in the front office that is where a lot of the $$$ is found.

so we should base all our life decisions upon money?
ok screw it im going to drop out of school now to be a miserable ibanker because thats where all the money is at

did I say that the only thing we should care about is money? I think not

Just for those who are wondering the front office is where the big $$$ is found. If you don’t want to work in the front office and don’t mind making less money then go for it.

Do whatever makes you happy that is the only thing you should do

i-banking for a couple of years doesn’t sound like a bad idea. It’s a good way to start of life before getting a real job or persuing a more advanced degree.

University of Texas Austin–I have also seen this school come up on several recruitment lists. Is it comparable to the recruited public schools (umich, uva) or more like Indianana where while its possible the banks are more so recruiting for a few back office positions?

Or if they are recruiting, is it more for the Texas offices?

Depends. UT Mccombs is pretty well regarded and UT Mccombs BHP kids are very very well regarded. The BHP program is top notch – they say that their only competition is Wharton.

Check out top hiring companies for BHP - http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/programs/bhp/corporate/recruit.asp

Well what about just the regular non honors program? Would it be comparable to say UMICH or UVA? (moreso in regards to recruiting, but the overall program as well)

uva’s commerce program and michigan’s busines program are both very very unique, in a way that students stay in the college of arts and sciences for 2 years before going in the undergrad business school…it gives students more solid liberal arts education…

UT austin’s non honor program, in term of recruiting, obviously can;t really match UVa or UMichigan at Ann Arbor (not Flint)…

Also, remember, DON NOT PICK A UNIVERSITY based on its business program…U MUST LOVE the university in order to do well in classes…go with your heart…college is a life-changing experience, you don’t want to regret your decision. and getting an ibanking career really shouldn’t be anyone;s ultimate goal. lots of things matter more than which college you go to, examples: connection, internships, personality…

“The BHP program is top notch – they say that their only competition is Wharton.”

This is pretty hard to believe. especially since stern and i think wharton have honors programs themselves

Frankly, you can go anywhere and get into IB: Just get great grades of at least 3.6 or better overall.

i’d say overall intelligence/the ability to turn mess into success/aggressive personality is really important for investment banking…

for BHP=wharton? that’s…im not sure about THAT…wharton is THE no.1, there’s no competition. does Lizard recruit at BHP? no. Does Lizard recruit at Wharton? Yes.

it’s Lazard, first off. And Honestly, there isn’t as big a difference between wharton and stern as you think. many of my friends exceeded or at least equaled the positions of their wharton counterparts.

Lazard’s a small boutique firm, that would probably account for only a small amount of school’s being recruited. Blackstone recruits and aren’t they a private equity group? PE’s pretty hard to get into.

But I’m not saying what the website claimed was right, I’m just saying that the exit ops and tuition for in state people in texas are pretty nice if you go with BHP.

definitely, if i live in Texas, BHP’d be my first choice, hands down…

well, it still depends on if i like UT-Austin…lol

go visit, and decide which schools you like.

NYU’s got a great reputation on wallstreet BUT:

The school is financial mess to put up with. It’s ranked #1 on the list by princeton review for students most unhappy with fin. aid. Two students committed suicide in the Bobst library last year. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say that academic failure while paying an arm and a leg for tuition could have been one of the main causes for depression.

What IBanks recruit at IU-Bloomington (Kelley)?
and at U. of Illinois - Urbana-Champaigne?

I found this… http://www.kelley.iu.edu/ibw/resumes/2006/resume_book_2006_pre_summer.pdf
Seems like everyone in the Investment Banking Workshop goes into Ibanking… but these people are all in the Honors College and have GPA’s at 3.9 and crazy experience…

crazy resumes… i like the title of Brandon D. Straub’s… or should i say BRANDON D STRAUB!!!

I think the Finance Club at UIUC is better, not as demanding…
