Any iconic, must eat spots that would give a student a feel for the campus vibe?
I’d get coffee on campus at Chaus (“chouse”), where all students go - brewed coffee is served right away, but my D22 won’t even bother ordering a latte there unless she has at least 30 minutes to wait. I don’t know that there’s a truly iconic eating spot around campus, but my kid really likes Island Grill in Rice Village.
I agree that Coffee House (Chaus) is THE place on campus for a snack and coffee.
It’s in the RMC (Student Center).
Anywhere in Rice Village that is not super expensive, like Torchies, will have a lot of students, though it won’t be just students there. Local Foods in Rice Village is opening a location right on campus in Brochstein (which is right next to the student center). I’m not sure if it’s open yet though it should be soon. If so, you will definitely get a feel for campus as Brochstein is in the middle of campus and the area is a big hang out spot for food, studying, etc.
There are also places in the RMC (the student center) where students and the community can eat.
