I'd like you to assure me that all is not lost...:)

So, I am fully aware that these threads are pretty pointless. But, I’m doing it anyway, lol.

SAT I (breakdown): 1910, so far. However, the June test was VERY easy(first time I took it in a year and a half; I reasonably expect at least 2100.
SAT II (if submitted): Don’t know yet.
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.8
Grades in AP/IB/honors classes (if applicable): A’s, A few B’s.
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): Somewhere between 1-5 of 400.
AP (place score in parenthesis): English lang (4), Bio (4), Phys B (4), Calc AB (5)
IB (place score in parenthesis): none
Senior Year Course Load: AP Lit, AP Calc BC, AP Physics, APUSH, AP Gov., AP Stats, AP Chem(might not be offered though)
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): zero.
Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership and number of years participated in a certain activity in parenthesis):
Academic Team(Captain, 4 years)
Key Club(3 years)
French Club (3 years)
Piano 12 years
Making Stained Glass-5 years

Job/Work Experience: McDonald’s- 25 hours a week.
Volunteer/Community service: Tutoring, Church, Boys & Girls Club
EC short answer (subject and personal opinions on it): Probably will be about my school’s academic team.

State (if domestic applicant):NC
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Rural Public
Ethnicity: Native American/ White
Gender: Female
Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): URM, First Generation, Questbridge(Possibly)

My stuff isn’t fantastic, I know, but I’ve had a lot of family issues in the past year or so, and my ability to be involved in EC’s has dropped.
I’ve also gotten 6 B’s since 9th grade, which sucks, I know.

all is not lost…write really good essays!!

I hope I can. Usually, their prompts speak to me, so hopefully there won’t be any exception this year.

If you bump your SAT up to 2100+, apply EA, and write killer essays then you should have a great shot.

i think that if you show a genuine interest in uchicago, you will be fine in the admissions process.

best of luck to you!!

Thank you. And congratulations on Chicago this year, have an amazing time!

Chicago tends to look past scores, however yours are on the lower end.
That being said, with a 2100 you should be solid as a urm and first gen with good grades. Good luck.

If the june SAT is super easy then everyone will do well and there will be a gay curve - on some tests ppl get 770 in math for one mistake, but 730 for one mistake on another

The curve likes other curves of the same gender?

It’s all about the essays.

score update: 2140

^ Note that Chicago does not look at the Writing section of the SAT.

yeah. I always forget that.
That brings me to a sad 1400.

^ 1400/1600 not bad.

Goldysocks-

Go For It

and . . . Love Thy Safeties, too

U Chicago is not a sure thing for almost everyone

yes, you have a chance: be your best own true self and see if they want you for who you are and what you have done

I think that your SAT scores are in the ball park. I have a 1380/1600 2090/2400 after taking it once and I’m not bothering with it again. IMO it seems that especially with Chicago if your scores are at a decent level they don’t play any part in your admission (maybe some :stuck_out_tongue: )

Thanks you guys.
Haha, it’s just stressful seeing all these people who have like 2280’s or whatever and they’re retaking. It’s ridiculous.
I don’t think I’m going to retake though.

^ If it helps, everyone I know that retook already high SAT scores got rejected from the UofC last year while I, who just stuck with all my original test scores, got in! ;)
