IDA - Courses NOT Counted?

Hey guys, so here is my situation:

I was accepted as a McComb’s internal transfer and I was just looking at the IDA for a finance degree when I noticed the system doesn’t recognize i’ve taken the full sequence of calculus. I took business cal 1 when I was a freshman at UT Arlington and I took business cal 2 this past spring semester at ACC while I was enrolled at UT. I was told by an advisor that this was perfectly acceptable and I know several other people were advised to do the same. When I clicked on the link in the IDA “Courses not counted” toward a BBA, I noticed it displays the business calculus 2 class I took at ACC with text that says “Starting fall 1991, transferred, UT extension, & UT correspondence work taken in a long semester with UT residence work CANNOT count toward a BBA.” So what does this mean exactly? If the class doesn’t count, then how was I admitted as internal transfer when that is a direct requirement?

If anyone can shed any light on this, i’d greatly appreciate it.

I would probably call them tomorrow and make sure. Seems weird, maybe the IDA isn’t fully updated yet?

Yeah it’s extremely weird considering how I was told by a McComb’s advisor prior to registering for Business Calc 2 at ACC that it was totally fine to take it while also at UT. I mean he suggested it! He also recommended this to my roommate and I know several of my classmates were UT students, so there’s no way we would all have to retake it right?! My worst nightmare…

I am definitely calling tomorrow to straighten things out. It could be old info, since the degree plans contain old information as well (like how the computer profiency test is no longer given/required for MIS 310 and there is no BA 102).

Just e-mail one of the advisers and tell them about your situation so they will waiver it for you. Exactly same thing happened to me and I e-mailed one of the advisers and I got a waiver.

Which advisor? I called the UPO and they said I was fine, but i’d like my IDA to be fixed. I emailed Yesenia Sanchez days ago and she hasn’t replied yet.

I e-mailed Lauren Campbell. Her e-mail address is lauren.campbell@mccombs.utexas.edu

Check the hours. My accounting 1 class was actually 4 credit hours but only 3 counted. The extra hour was listed as “not counted towards degree”. They match the credit hours to their system of credit hours. Hope that helped.
