Ideal BFA Acting candidate

I’m actually just trying to find out from milkshakespeare whether or not CalArts enforces the policy. I’m also unsure if she is referring to acting majors.

You can often tell from an audition how hard the auditioner has worked on their audition. I certainly have seen someone come in with a script and read aloud a monologue that he obviously not read before at all. He struck me as someone lacking in work ethic. No, you can’t always tell but sometimes you can.

But this is also part of the reason why some schools have longer more involved callbacks (or even the initial audition). They are looking at your work ethic, among other things.

It does sound like the people (and their parents) I talk to here have strong work ethics, the people without a work ethic wouldn’t even make the effort to come and talk here.
