hahahahaha, my dad did the same thing… alas, he now has the boxster and it only fits 2 people…

if your husband is looking for a convertible, but one that is maybe a little more mainstream, my dad looked into a couple of honda convertibles and a lexus convertible. i think they are still 2 seaters, but the parts will be much easier to get a hold of.

Be glad it’s the Boxster. There are other more expensive, newer Porsches. (My DH finally succumbed during the kids’ last semester of college, after waiting for 22 years.)

I don’t think the Boxster is that bad an idea. The '99s are depreciating very little at this point. If he maintains it well, he should be able to sell it for about what he paid for it when he gets tired of it. Not true of the hideous T’bird.

I think you’re wrong to go from a compromise. He’s never going to LOVE a compromise car, and will resent being asked to buy it just to please you. Instead, think of it as a bargaining chip. What do YOU want that he vaguely disapproves of? (That’s how I got the second dog: DH got the Porsche, I got the dog.)

Mini Cooper S, English roots, now made by BMW, holds 4 and golf clubs, INCREDIBLY fun to drive (definitely need the S version, tho). We got ours for 25K last year, but they may have gone up. (Its my wife’s but sometimes she lets me drive it.)

I second the Infiniti! My husband is also shopping for a new car and this is the one I’m pushing. The G series coupe is very sporty and you still can squeeze 4 in there. My husband is looking at the M series because he still wants a 4 door sedan with a comfortable back seat.

Consumer Reports ranks Infiniti at the top of luxury cars and that is going a long way with us in our decision making process.

Btw…I’ve had two BMWs, 535i and the V8 X5. Very satisfied with BMW, but expensive to maintain and a big hike to the nearest dealership for us. But your hubby might get a nice ‘rush’ out of a BMW with a few bells and whistles…it’s especially sharp, and ‘manly’, in black ;)… lol!

No one is ever going to convince a man who wants a Porsche that he should be driving a Mini Cooper convertible instead. If he wants a Porsche, then he’s not getting it for practicality either, and no compromise will really make any sense.

I hope he tries driving the Mini-S before making that decision. The S is quite powerful and does, in fact, seat 4 which was part of the op’s initial request for info…
