Ideas for a third major?

I’m doing econ and stats. I’m thinking about adding a third major because it won’t be that many extra classes. I don’t want anything quantitative or technical, but it should complement my other majors nicely. I’m thinking:

  • philosophy? - poli sci? - classics? - history? - international development?
I would enjoy all those about the same.
    What do you guys think?

Can you afford it?

Yeah, it’s about another $6,000.

What about any of those fields draws you so much that you’d add another major in them when you already have two majors? Or if you want to put it another way, if someone were to ask you about your triple major combination, what explanation could you give for it besides something along the lines of “well, it wasn’t many extra classes to do it so I added [insert third major] just because”? Because that’s how it comes off in your OP. And that’s not a good reason to add another major, particularly when you’re already double majoring and when, based on your other post, you’d have to take extra time to do it.

If you still want to do the triple major, use that question as a guide to which one to pick. Don’t just pick a random one that you have a slight passing interest in, for no other reason besides the fact that you could. Have a solid reason for picking any major you choose to add on.

Out of curiosity, what year are you?

I’m in third year now. I’m a “super senior” though, been in and out of school for a long time and only got serious about it in Jan 2015.
I’ve always really enjoyed history. Research and writing are my strong points. Though it does get drab to obsess over dead people, which is why I might be more interested in poli sci or development… they deal with current events.
I’m only majoring in econ and stats because I’m paranoid about the job market and they’re not as tough as say, engineering. I can do well in them if I work really hard, but I’m not a numbers guy.

Don’t? Why don’t you just take electives to round out your degree in areas of interest? You could take classes in all of those fields and explore your interests without staying longer.

Agree with reply #5 – just choose electives in anything you find interesting or useful without worrying about checking the boxes for another major.

Just finish and get out and work would be my advice.

Thanks guys. I will stick to my two majors.
