Ideas for HS graduation gift for girl

Our neighbors (and good friends) are throwing a graduation party for their daughter and have invited us and our kids and being the mom of sons, I’m at a loss for a gift. I don’t really want to give money, so does anyone have any gift suggestions?

Anything that girls might like for themselves or their dorm rooms that I’m just not thinking of?

Thanks!

A BMW, obviously.

Geez, old people…smh

She’s not into model cars… ;)

There have been other threads on this question so you can search for them to get some good suggestions. One idea is a small toolkit to take to her dorm room. My D got one from her HS boyfriend’s mom and it was very useful.

Mom of boys here too!!

I have given Ulta gift cards, along with some of the sample sizes or small sets of things they sell there. I’ve put it in a cute grad container or chinese take-out type box. Looks cute and the girls have all loved it. Great place to shop for all the girlie stuff.

Depends on how close you are to the family and how much you want to spend. As the mother of 2 daughters, it was always so sweet and appreciated by them when they were given a piece of jewelry “in their style.” For girls who are daughters of very close friends, I will sometimes give a pair of pearl stud earrings (understated and classic and something to keep forever).

Let me try to remember (parent of son here):

I have given cute little pedicure kits sold at the salon that cuts my hair.

Flip flops and matching beach towel

The year my son graduated I found very cute and inexpensive hoodies for the state flagship U that were cut just right for slim young women. The 5 girls who were headed there were thrilled. (I know because they wore them all summer)

For the 3 girls in my Girl Scout troop that are graduating this year, I got 2 of them sterling silver bracelets (they both had parties) from a local jeweler that has estate/used jewelry. One was Tiffany that I got for $65. The 3rd that did not have a party, I got a $20.11 gift certificate to Target.

Another girl who had a party is heading to Europe for college, so I gave her Euro20.11 in Euros. (I travel to Europe a bit, so I have Euros on hand). I didn’t think a gift card to a US retailer would be too practical!

I think Target gift cards are great for girls. My D loves target and if anyone asked me what to get her I always suggested target. Its good for getting dorm stuff or whatever they need to get. With the gift card, you don’t really worry about whether its their style or not because they get to pick what they want.

Another thing I got for one of Ds friend was towels with the initial of her first name. They need towels for dorms and they were white with black initials so that could work with most any decorating scheme.

My girls always love photo frames. Especially the collage frames where they can put several pics in - Kohl’s has them often 50% off and if you get ones that aren’t too heavy they can use sticky tape/3M thingys to hang them on their dorm walls if that’s allowed.
