I’m currently a junior studying at a school in Central America, and I have no idea how to put out an impact in here. How should I start approaching creating a project in this new environment?
Back home, in Europe, I was very active, and I had multiple projects that had an impact on others. I created a campaign for employment opportunities with the European Commission, I created a urine test measuring vitamin deficiency in pregnant women (lead to 1st place in an international science competition), and I was a Youth Delegate at the UN. Of course, I did other extracurriculars, but the projects I was doing back home are the highlights I have in terms of my extracurriculars.
I’ve only been in my new school for four months, and I’ve managed to do a few impactful things, but no projects necessarily. I lead my school’s chapter of Write for Rights campaign, I was a lead organizer of a regional MUN conference in the country.
Our school’s university counselor recommended doing more projects in here. The problem is, I don’t know what to do! I’m extremely interested in LGBT rights, social justice, human rights, gender issues, sexual violence prevention, and education, so I’d really like to do something along those lines.
However, I’m completely blanking out in terms of what exactly to do! Anyone have any ideas?
