I’m applying to SMU, TCU, and Baylor (I like them all) but I would also like to apply to (at least) one reach. However…I’m not sure which would be best for my major (business) and my location (I live in the middle of the US and am not big on going as far as the coastal states). Also, I would enjoy a Christian college or a college with a large faith based population. Any ideas? :)

ACT: 33 (retaking next week b/c I didn’t take the writing )
4.0 unweighted
1/69
1 AP (all my school offers) and many honors classes (most rigorous)
Dancer and cheerleader as well as many leadership positions in various clubs and church organizations.

I’m definitely thinking vandy…but two issues.

Not many business options (no finance)

My grandfather (who lives near there and is in control of my college finances) labeled it as a snooty rich kid school and is not keen on me applying.

That stereotype about Vandy, from what I hear, is less true than it used to be but still partly applicable. I think they’ve worked on adding diversity to move away from that image, but it seems like the majority is still wealthy students. Your grandfather is probably familiar with the older stereotype, so maybe find some information for him about how things have changed.

Notre Dame has the Mendoza College of Business, it fits you right in. Now I am not sure your grandfather’s perception on NDU cause it costs just as much as Vandy, as matter of fact, all private elites cost about the same.

Yeah money isn’t a huge issue (I just didn’t want to say that originally because it can come off as very rude lol) I’m more concerned about “fit”.

Not a reach but U Dayton has a good business program, and you should get merit aid. Notre Dame is a good choice. Michigan also has a great program. Miami U (OH) is a little less selective but still good.
