Ideas for short term housing in Boulder

CC parents always have great ideas, so I thought this was worth a shot. Anyone have any experience with short term summer housing in Boulder Colorado? Thanks for any suggestions.

They are all over the place during the summers. Check out Craigslist Boulder and the university has a web page for sublets. Colorado Daily, too.

I tried to PM you but, even though I’ve been a lurker for a long time, I don’t have enough posts. We own a 2-bedroom condo in Boulder that our son will be moving into in late August. Our current tenants have another week to let us know if they want the condo over the summer. There are a lot of rentals; some are nice, some not so much  Let me know if you have any questions about the different areas around campus.

Most rentals are year long and most students do not stay over the summer. I suspect sublets are easily available, but you may not see much activity for a little while. I agree with the suggestions of momofthreeboys, I just think that it may be a little early. There also used to be an outfit called Apartment Finders (or something similar) which might have sublets. I am sure they are fee-based.

Frats often offer rooms for cheap in the summer. (For men & women.) Lots of sublets will be listed on the Craigslist for Boulder

If it is an intern position, try this:

The housing is at Bear Creek Apartments, which is owned by CU.

It’s already starting I’ve had 2 in my facebook feed from kids of friends this week looking for someone to sublet their apartments.

Bear Creek is nice; that’s where S1 is this year. PP is right, it is owned and operated by CU.

Will your student be getting around by bus or on foot? By car? Depending on where your student’s job/internship/class will be located, there are likely to be better and worse choices. I don’t know what the bus situation is during the summer from Bear Creek Apartments, fwiw. Generally students here for the summer see to like the Hill.

Thanks to all of you for the ideas. My D will have a car since her internship is out of town a little. I know very little about Boulder - is the Hill where the university is? She has expressed some interest in living near Pearl St - is that a safe area? Is it very expensive? Thanks again.

The Hill is across the street from the university and is where a great many shops are. Use Google Maps and find The Sink restaurant - this is where The Hill is.

Pearl Street is about ten blocks north and four blocks of which are a pedestrian mall. Safe but I imaging the housing around that area (both areas, actually) are going to be on the expensive side. Hopefully your D can score a good deal for the summer.

Rockiesfan - I did PM you. I hope that you received it.

Rockiesfan,

If you live in Boulder, can you recommend an internist for my son who’s in grad school there?

Of course I suggested he find one before he got sick, but he didn’t and had a miserable experience at an urgent care facility with an incompetent doctor.

Martharap - sorry your S in sick! I live 40 miles away and don’t have any experience with doctors in Boulder. I hope he finds someone better than the first person he saw.

Twoparent - I am emailing you.
