I’m going to be entering my second year of graduate school (MA in International Affairs) at Marquette University and I would like to pursue a Ph.d when I am finished. I currently have a 4.0 in the Master’s Program (3.37 UW-Madison undergrad GPA). My GRE Scores are 710 V 680 Q and 5.0 AW. I have presented a few papers at academic conferences (Midwest Political Science Association). My areas of focus are international political economy (particularly the Nordic model) and indigenous rights issues (particularly related to the Saami people of Northern Fennoscandia in a comparison to American Indian Policy). I have no idea what programs are best for my qualifications (maybe in Sweden?). It seems, unfortunately, that the quality of indigenous rights scholarship in political science is fairly low and most scholars I’ve read are from lower tier schools. I’d rather go at least to a mid-level univ. Not sure what my strategy should be.
