IDOC question (CP/NCP)

My S just received an IDOC request, logging in it is asking for student and CP W2/1099’s. Does that mean I only need to submit the CP W2’s? (mine) and do not need to submit my husbands (stepfather). It asked for both of our SSN’s but only has CP listed for the docs.

The husband’s info will also be needed. He is a CP, too.

What college?

Well no, he is not a CP but as he is married to one so his income does count as part of the household for the student. I just found it very odd to list it as CP and only one line.

Then again I find the whole thing odd and annoying as it’s a FAFSA only school and we used the IRS retrieval tool with zero issues.

College is Ursinus.

The FAFSA uses both custodial parent and spouse. That being the case, I would send info for both.

The question wasn’t pertaining to FAFSA, but to an IDOC request.

@eandesmom

Our point was…your FAFSA and Profile included both yours and your husband (the stepfather’s) income and assets. That being the case…I would suggest you include both on the IDOC submission.

But if you really aren’t sure…call the college and ask them what they want.

The purpose of IDOC is to verify that the information you included on the Profile is correct. On your Profile, you should have included both your husband and your information…just like on the fafsa.

The NCP will get their own IDOC info.

In this case no, I don’t think the NCP will. It is a FAFSA only school and they’ve no way to contact the NCP. I did submit all our w2’s. However I will think it’s incredibly poorly worded and super annoying since it’s pulling from the IRS retrieval info anyway.
