IE courses

<p>I understand IE courses can count towards a CORE course under certain circumstances. On the website where the IE courses are explained it almost seems like the requirements defeat the purpose of IE courses. For example it says:
To make an IE course count for HA then you must take
An HA course
an HL course
an IE course</p>

<p>Why would I do all that to make the IE course count towards HA when the HA course itself is one of the requirements? Am I just not understanding the IE course thing correctly?</p>

<p>For CORE, you need 3 Humanities.
HA
HL
HO (Other Humanities)</p>

<p>You MUST take an HA and HL.
You can use an IE course to replace the HO requirement.</p>

<p>Actually you can take a HL, HA, or HO for the third slot, using an IE to count instead if you want.</p>
