IE vs EE for job opportunities

Hello all,
I am a high school senior going to major in engineering. I was originally going to major in CS, but I decided I wanted to more than only programming. So, my question is, which major would give me better job opportunities on graduation and which field is expected to grow more in the next 10-20 years. If it helps, the areas within EE I am interested in are control systems, electric power, and optics, and the areas within IE I am interested in are systems engineering, simulation, and operations research.

CS people do a lot more than just programming. Take a look at the course names in your college. It is much easier to find a job with a CS degree than with a EE degree. But with any of this two degrees you will be have a great career. I dont know anything about IE…

Majoring in engineering is not that easy so think what you want to do after graduation before you choose between the three degrees

bump…

No need to decide now. As a HS senior, you have probably already done your applications. Do you know yet what school you will attend? Does the school offer all of CS, EE, and IE?

Look at the recommended freshman year curriculum for all majors, and try to pick classes that are common to all of them, and try to get exposure to all of them. EE and IE probably both require Calculus and Physics for freshmen. Take an intro class for each of EE and IE. Take a programming class, which hopefully is required for all of CS, EE and IE. Wait to decide on the specific major until you know more.
