If I claim credit with AP scores, can i still take the class?

Is it possible to retake a class I have claimed credit for if I change my mind? Or will it count as your second attempt at a class or something? Has anyone done this?

The simple answer is no. The system if very rigid. For example, you are required to take mechanical physics before electricity and magnetism (e&m). These classes are offered in several forms. If you were to claim credit for the harder calculus-based mechanics then decided you didn’t like calculus, you would be unable to take the non-calculus based e&m because you do not have the exact pre-requisite (non-calculus mechanics) despite your mechanics credit having been more difficult to earn.
For this reason among others (i.e. rebates), claiming AP credit is a process that should be done with the advice of your adviser. If you are worried about claiming a credit for a subject you are still uneasy with, you’re probably better off re-taking the class. On the other hand, if you feel that you earned a solid ‘5’ on your exam then you should be just fine and shouldn’t second guess yourself.
