I was going to attend Claremont McKenna college, which is specialized around the social sciences, my senior year of high school. I ended up panicking a bit over the summer, not sure if I’d actually want to do the social sciences bc over the summer I got very interested in computer science. So when I got off the waitlist at another less specialized school, I chose to go there instead. But now I want to transfer to Claremont bc I am sure I want to study psych, which Claremont has an excellent program in. Do you think my chances are extremely low? I got good grades first semester.
I would assume that having already been accepted once to Claremont McKenna will help you rather than hurt you. Colleges and Universities understand that they are one of many institutions vying for your attendance, and that they can’t take it personally if you reject them. Transfer admissions though can be tricky. There are often a limited number of spots available and the admissions rate can be lower than with general admissions depending on spots and interest so even if you were accepted there once, there is no guarantee they will accept you again.
If Claremont McKenna were off the table, would you apply to transfer elsewhere?
